When we first started creating our old age comics, our idea was not just to make funny images. We wanted to capture authentic real-life moments from the lives of older women and make them into light, funny, positive and relatable comic narratives. There are lots of things that change because of old age, but it also gives wisdom, patience, humor and a unique perspective on life. All our comics are made by us with care, respect and a lot of love to older women who still smile every day despite the challenges. We want to make them feel seen, make them laugh and provide them with a moment of fun, and each comic is inspired by a simple situation we notice around senior ladies.
#1. The Senior Workout Nobody Asked For
The first comic, Morning Stretch, was inspired by noticing the number of old ladies who start their day slowly, carefully and after a little negotiation with their bodies. Standing up may seem like performing a whole routine, but there’s beauty within this gentle beginning. This comic was created to demonstrate that a little bit of exercise in the morning can be like a feat of accomplishment. The intent is good because it is a reminder to elderly women that despite the body’s demand for more time, every new morning is cause for celebration.

#2. Doing Nothing Takes Real Dedication
The Retirement Plan comic was inspired by the lack of understanding about retirement. For older women, even leisure has its own beat, and many people believe that retirement is a time of doing nothing. We wanted to make this comic in order to illustrate the fun of a casual day in which naps, tea, and quiet time are key components of the day. The thought was to have old ladies laugh because after having worked for such an amount of time, they ought to have the opportunity to have tranquil days without feeling guilty.

#3. The Mystery Was on Her Head All Along
The Glasses Hunt comic was based on one of the most typical ‘old age moments’ of all: looking for their glasses anywhere but wearing them. This is a joke that is easy, harmless and instantly relatable! I think that this type of forgetfulness happens to many older women, and rather than make it an embarrassing moment, we wanted to make it a happy one. The good news is that such memory lapses are common for all of us, and sometimes they’re the highlight of the day.

#4. A Mailbox Journey Counts as Fitness
The Walking Club comic was developed because older women were seen to make an everyday activity such as walking into a form of exercise. Taking a few steps to the mailbox, doing a little walking around the garden or just stepping out the door can be a source of pride as achievements for fitness. That’s what we wanted this comic to be about! The joke comes from our own comic idea and it somehow illustrates that the movement doesn’t necessarily have to be intense in order to be useful. Every little step counts for senior women and a smile is warranted for every effort.

#5. When Your Knees Start Playing Music
The Age Number comic was inspired by the hilarious fact that knees make noises when people get older. There are a lot of old ladies who have a good time talking about their joints before anybody else does, and we wanted to capture that confidence. This comic is designed to demonstrate a woman laughing at the tinkle noises her body makes. The good news is that older bodies can change, but humor makes it easier to deal with that change. It’s okay to giggle over minor pains and pains, as it can lighten the day.

#6. Tea, TV, and the Weather Report
The concept for Wild Night comic came from how one’s fun changes during the night as they grow up. For many senior ladies, a wild night doesn’t necessarily involve loud parties and late nights out. It can be tea, a warm blanket, watching television, and waiting till the news to stay awake. This comic is here to remind people that old age can be comfortable, not boring. The lesson is that happiness morphs over time and a quiet evening can be as important as an exciting evening.

#7. The Joy of Forgetting What You Ordered
The Delivery Day comic was inspired by the fact that online shopping has been a surprising source of happiness for many elderly women. At times they buy something, forget about it and later are thrilled when the package arrives. This comic is created to bring out the innocent joy of small surprises. The joke is ours, the sentiment is very real. We wanted old ladies to laugh and make them feel it’s a box of happy and that they could make it happy all day long.

#8. Memory Is Sharp Until Login Time
The Password Trouble comic was based on the frustration that older folks can have with modern technology. While the old songs, recipes, family stories, and significant dates are often recalled, a password created yesterday may be forgotten. This comic is made to make digital frustration go away. The good news is that some people are not less smart if they struggle with technology. It just demonstrates that the world we live in continues to evolve and that humor is vital to deal with it.

#9. When Your Body Has Its Own Opinions
The idea for the Back Talk comic was inspired by seeing how older bodies have opinions. Activities such as lifting a flowerpot, or tying shoes can seem like a negotiation. This is a comic that we have developed to demonstrate that the body can be our tool for laughter rather than our means to defeat. The message is gentle and encouraging. While there may be a bit of stiffness and aches as the years go on, the wisdom to slow down and to listen to the body also comes with the aging process, along with the smile.

#10. The Most Important Appointment of the Day
The Nap Schedule comic was developed because of the common practice of taking a nap, sleeping for a long time and waking up much later. This is a common feeling among many old ladies. We wanted to create a comic that made naps look like valuable appointments, not laziness. The joke is warm and positive, because it celebrates the concept of rest as good. At the end of the day, after all the years of taking care of others and working hard, these fine women deserve peaceful naps and no apologies.

#11. Remembering Everything Except Why You Walked In
The Memory Lane comic is based on the selective nature of old age memory. An elderly lady may recall what she was doing decades ago but forget to come into the kitchen for. That’s why we made this comic to make the experience funny rather than frustrating. The message is that there is no such thing as flawless memory. It’s also about a lifetime of songs, stories, people and moments which still shine brightly in the heart.

#12. The Shopping List Stayed Home Again
The Grocery Day comic was born out of observations of grocery shopping that can turn into a mini adventure. An old lady can come in with a list and forget it, and then buy something completely different and come home happy. We made this comic because it’s about the humorous side of independence. The good news is that there is still plenty of choice, walking around, buying things for oneself for senior women, even if the initial idea undergoes modifications.

#13. Finding the Phone Before Answering It
The Phone Call comic is based on the current problem of locating the phone before you answer it. For many older women, the sound begins a search quest. We had this comic made to illustrate the funny thing about that little panic. The punch line is ours, and we’re going for old ladies to laugh at something that may be too familiar for them. The message is technology can be confusing, but laughter is the key to making life fun.

#14. One Weed, One Victory, One Sore Back
The Garden Goals comic was inspired by watching the old ladies who garden in spite of their back. Weeding the garden or watering the flowers or carrying a pot may seem like a lot of work, but it is satisfying when done. We created this comic to celebrate senior women who stay connected to nature. The good news is gardening isn’t all about plants. It’s a matter of patience, caring, beauty and being happy with the small wins.

#15. Five Minutes That Become a Time-Travel Adventure
The Sunday Nap comic was inspired by the habit of resting peacefully in a good chair. Older women have the intention to close their eyes for a few minutes, and the rest becomes a long, restful sleep. We made this comic to prove that napping can be like time travel in the funniest of ways. The tone is gentle and positive. Sleep is a natural aspect of aging well, and a sweet nap can complete an ordinary afternoon.

#16. Solving Yesterday’s Login Like a Detective
The Password Panic comic was from a similar world of technology mishaps but with a different vibe. This comics book deals with the detective work that starts with the loss of a password. Searching includes sticky notes, notebooks, drawers and guesses. We created this comic as a lot of old ladies are still learning patiently and humorously with digital tools. The good news is that it is a win at any age to try, learn and laugh at mistakes.

#17. A Free Adventure in Walking Shoes
The Mail Time comic was inspired by how checking the mail can become a daily outing. It provides an excuse to come out, put on walking shoes, get a bit of fresh air and some adventure. We made this comic to demonstrate that the everyday can be significant in old age. It’s a simple joke but a powerful message. Movement, hope and purpose can come with small daily habits.

#18. Online Shopping Feels Like Surprise Birthday Gifts
The Delivery Joy comic was a product of the joy of receiving packages, particularly when the order has long been forgotten. We made this comic to demonstrate that there is still surprise in everyday life. When an older woman excitedly opens a package, the image exudes joy as it shows that curiosity is not lost with age. The good news is that senior women still discover, have fun, and get little rewards.

#19. A Wild Evening with Tea and Volume Control
The TV Night comic was inspired by cozy evenings at home. Many old ladies like to watch their favorite shows, have their teas, blankets, and comfort in the familiar routines. This comic was written to make the quiet side of life be funny and special. The joke illustrates a point about trying to stay alert during an entire program which can seem like a success. The good news is that happiness doesn’t have to be grand. Occasionally it’s a cup of tea and a cozy chair.

#20. Coffee, Slippers, and a Respectable Yawn Workout
The last comic, Morning Stretch in Cozy Comfort, is a return from the theme for the beginning of the day to be patient and funny. We developed it as many elderly women know the tedious morning routine better than anyone else. This can feel like a full workout, with back stretching, reaching for coffee, searching for slippers and yawning throughout. It is a positive message because it teaches people that every day starts with work and work deserves to be kind, laugh and feel good about themselves.

We have produced these old age comics for the purpose of commemorating the senior women, and the tiniest of fight-ups and funny things that they do with grace and humor. We do not want to have an old age expression that is sad or negative. Rather, we’d like to see that every forgotten password, noisy knee, missing pair of glasses, surprise delivery and unexpected nap can be part of a joyful story. We are here to bring joy to old ladies, to family members to share a smile with them and to share a positive message about being elderly. Old age is not all about problems. It’s also about personality, memories, wisdom, comfort, and being able to see the humor in life. For more, visit here and here.
